The Green Belt Movement was founded by environmentalist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Wangari Maathai in 1977. What began as a grassroots tree-planting program aimed at addressing environmental damage has evolved into a vehicle for empowering women, advocating for human rights and supporting good governance and peaceful democratic change. To date, more than 40 million trees have been planted throughout Africa.
Our Green Belt print was designed by renowned African architect David Adjaye. The print, set against a jewel-toned green background, evokes the spirit of renewal and hope with yellow-stemmed fig leaves that echo the shape of the African continent.
